Book Group Choice?

A column in today’s New York Times gives some examples of the need (often unmet) for careful data analysis in courtrooms.  It turns out, not surprisingly, that the mother-daughter author pair has a book, Math on Trial:  How Numbers Get Used and Abused in the Courtroom, out this year.  This  review in Publishers Weekly has more information (it’s also going to go on my list of articles concerning mathematics or statistics that begin with a disparaging remark about the discipline).  I’m going to go to the website of my local bookshop and order a copy of the book.  Maybe I’ll even suggest it to my reading group.
